Octavian and Divus Julius Caesar. Dupondius (Copper, 27 mm, 6.46 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation from an irregular mint, after 38 BC. DIVI•F - CAESAR Bare head of Octavian to right. Rev. DIVOS - IVLIOS Bare head of Julius Caesar to right. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 98, Crawford 535/1, RBW 1822, RPC I 620 and Sydenham 1335 (for prototype). An interesting contemporary imitation of somewhat curious but charming local style. Traces of removed encrustations, otherwise, very fine.
